I’ve got plenty more Xmarx models to finish, so stay tuned for some even cooler models to be posted soon.

I’m starting off very small right now, still learning how to make little things and do photos with some of my miniatures. I will most likely start with some Battletech scenes. I have some great Xmarx models to hopefully photograph real soon.

I was able to get to building a few models during Christmas break. Per usual I’m afraid to touch these with a brush, but to be honest they look pretty awesome as is. So awesome in fact they now command the top spot in my display case.

These limited edition Kingdom Death minis are by far the most highly detailed minis I have ever seen and they each come with some great artwork and a certificate with the number of your LTD cast.

The attention to detail is phenomenal; these models look completely polished and dynamic from every angle. The Kingdom Death game itself is still in development, so I cannot speak to how it will be, but after seeing the work put into these figures I have no doubt this game will be cool.

So it will be some time before I can put these figures to use, but other than just the simple coolness factor of collecting these models, the other fun part is that by purchasing these limited edition high quality resin casts, it’s actually helping to fund the project and get the game built, so in a way we get to contribute to the development of the final game.

The popularity of these models have been increasing fast, some of the models have sold out in less than a day, and one in less than 8 hours! So I have been following the site closely and waiting in anticipation for each new model release. Unfortunately I’ve missed a few of the really cool ones, like the Grand Mother, Wet Nurse, and Grom but I will continue to look into acquiring them down the road. It’s seriously gotten to the point where I’ve stayed up all night just waiting for them to be added to a cart.

One word of warning for beginners, the detail on some of these figures is so good that it’s very easy to accidentally break pieces off. If you plan on getting into the Kingdom Death line, be prepared to start a project that requires extreme patience and precision. But even after a few mishaps, these things look great.

18 years ago today was the release of a video game that helped make me into the Geek I am today. Is it strange that I remember the details around when, where and how I got this game better than I can recall what I did last week? Do you remember when you first played Doom? The unveiling of the new Geek pad. Our Media/Gaming/Hobby room is nearly complete! I plan on posting the specs soon, but for now I’m very excited to release some pics.

The feeling of missed opportunity has once again stuck me tonight… But, this time I’ve found that even though that door closed, another one has opened. The closure of S6 triggered more online investigations, digging through obscure sites and Google searches looking around for something comparable.

Usually when a business goes under I feel like I really lost out, but not this time. Not only did I find something comparable to S6, but I think I actually squealed with joy when I found this website. Check it out http://store.gcmshop.com. This terrain, buildings, bridges and skyscrapers all look amazing. I remember looking up some old ATLAS skyscrapers on eBay which I planned to use for Battletech a while back which were comparable to these; they were selling for over $200 each! I’m sure with a little work these would look just as good if not better.

So after today’s bad news there was no way I could wait, I just had to buy something, so I picked up a couple of things 285th Scale Hex Terrain System / Plain Hex – 285HEX001 and the Terrain Tote. These appear to be perfect for building a modular terrain set. I’ve been looking for something like this for a while; most of the systems I had found were made from foam and discontinued so the price was outrageous, these are very affordable. I also have a future project in the works that these may work perfectly for, it involves Hex mirrors from IKEA and Battletech miniatures, I had planned on attempting to make hexes on my own with resin, but this is much better. Stay tuned for updates on that, it’s going to be a cool project.

Next up on my wish list are some more great miniatures from http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk. I happened to stumble upon this site one late night after a couple of season one episodes and a few drinks. A bad combination when it comes to any sort of spontaneous purchase willpower. I only ordered the Daisy Taylor mini at first because I had no idea who the other characters where at the time. I was very impressed with the figure, and now that I’m farther along in the series I am now working to get the other characters. I am now on season four.

First on my wish list is Mini Paintball from Ebob Miniatures.

Teams (2 x 6 miniatures) plus 2 x Marshals and 2 flag counters for £19.00 and two sets of the oil drums (pack of 5 oil drums) for £1.50. This comes to about $41.00 US right now given conversion rates.

Reason I want them: I would love to recreate my old paintball team “Painted Black” via miniatures, this would be a great set to have from a collectors perspective. Since I have pretty much moved from my original hobby Paintball to Miniatures these seem very fitting. The game could be very fun as well. I will have to try it out.

This is a tough one… I’m already feeling the urge to click buy…
